I do not wish for an instant to denigrate the acclaim we give our wonderful sporting identities, or to those who enrich our lives through the arts.

We must now turn to give even greater emphasis and acclaim to those with special gifts and talents who can lead us through the twenty-first century as a proud and independent nation.”
