The VAGTC welcomes you to central Melbourne and urges you to immerse yourself in the life of our beautiful city. The primary focus of this “Unmasking the Possibilities” conference is to raise awareness and to encourage participants to become practically and confidently committed to ensuring that all children are given the opportunity to shine. We are delighted to be able to bring to the conference two key speakers who are celebrated educators in their respective fields, namely Indigenous Education and Educational Psychology.

Giftedness and the Autism Spectrum

Autism Spectrum Conditions such as Asperger’s syndrome (AS) are diagnosed in individuals with a wide range of abilities, including those who are gifted. While there is a growing body of knowledge available to educators and parents about AS, there has been relatively little research in relation to educational provision for gifted children with AS. Susan will examine the available literature and introduce case studies of gifted individuals with AS.
