After
qualifying as a word processing operator in 1985, a young and enthusiastic
Gary found his 'dream job': as a member of an all-girl typing pool at
Colonial mutual Life — a job he held for 6 years, gaining him advanced
skills and promotion to Senior Word Processing Operator. Later duties
saw him employed in the company as a relieving personal assistant to
the company's managing director.
Today,
Gary is better known as a fine art landscape and scenic photographer
with a specialist interest in SE Australian rainforest ecosystems, streams
and waterfalls — complementary subjects that he has meticulously studied
over 15 years of widespread and often challenging travel.
Since
2000, Gary has specialised in the production of master printed and framed
Superchrome (Ilfochrome Classic®) photographs, although he has long-established
skills in other areas. He is involved in the design, commissioning and
administration of websites and intranets for a number of private and
professional clients. Additionally, Gary has a diverse range of trade
skills, including typesetting (he qualified as a Typesetter in 1993),
word processing, desktop publishing, graphic design and imaging work
gained from several years of wide and varied employment and private
consultancy. As time allows, Gary also assists community organisations
with work skills provided in a voluntary capacity.
